The tall creature is much easier to paint than to make.

Little ceramic monsters will show up in my shop sometime. All the in-progress ones in the photo are sold already. :)

Finally, after months of working on this thing, it is ready to paint! I still have to work on the wood base that it will be attached to. I am so excited to finally be done with the sculpting on it!!!

Working on a very large, complicated creature. This is just the tail.

I finally made my kiln watcher. He is small but mighty!

Tomorrow, I finally get to order the kiln!!! I can’t wait for it to arrive!!!!!

A small long-legged dragon beast. He will be gray with yellow ochre.

The lion creature again, with a quick coat of pale yellow. His accents will be in bronze. Should I stick with the yellow or try teal?

Several works in progress. The top photo is of two large sculptures I just started working on. The shorter one still needs some armature pieces added. The taller one is currently 12 inches tall, so the finished piece will probably be between 13 and 14 inches tall. Both of these will be made with air-drying clay.

The other photo has two more long-legged dragon beasts that are almost ready to paint. They both still need a little work on their legs and the smaller one needs some work on his back. There’s another little alien in the painting phase.

My lion-like creature finally has feet and is ready for paint! I don’t know where he came from; he isn’t even in my sketchbook. Sometimes, creatures just happen.

And the turtle… Odd fact: I used to make turtles when I first started sculpting years ago. I think I originally picked turtles because I thought they would be easy to make. They’re not. Turtles are all weird and wrinkled and lumpy and have odd crevices where various limbs stick out at odd angles. I didn’t give up because I’m stubborn. Now I still get the occasional request for a turtle. (and I gripe and grumble through the entire sculpting process) The last one I made was pink!

I’m still alive!

I just haven’t been updating lately. I’ve been working too slow because of the ac being dead, then I had some minor health issues thanks to the lack of ac (only one day of antibiotics left!).

So here’s a photo of my temporary studio on the dining room table. The actual studio is way to hot to work in.

The tall beast in the middle is a commission to go with the first one I sold!

And best of all, the new ac is being installed tomorrow!!!

We’re already in the triple digits here :( I’m Melting!!!!!

Mortimer! My new favorite creature!

In other news…

I have lots of ceramic clay! I’ve been making beads, pendants and other random things. There’s even a little monster who is nearly dry. My kiln fund is growing slowly, but I wish it would go faster!

O.O

Wow! In one day, I have surpassed all of April’s views and favorites in my etsy shop.

And everyone is probably tired of pictures of this creature, but he sold in two days! (and added a huge amount to my kiln fund!) :-D Thank you to my wonderful customer! I hope you love him as much as I do.
